The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc. (“JEGI”) of New York, NY is pleased to announce that Michael Marchesano, a media industry veteran and a former top executive at The Nielsen Company, has joined the firm as Managing Director.

In this role, Marchesano will focus on the firm’s leading M&A advisory practice to the business information services sector, which includes the wide array of companies providing data-driven products and services and marketing solutions. Known for his strong strategic and management skills, Marchesano has an impeccable reputation and is highly regarded throughout the industry.

Wilma Jordan, CEO and founder of JEGI, noted, “We are very pleased that Mike will be joining our team of seasoned investment banking professionals. His wealth of knowledge and deep domain experience in the business information services sector will bring significant value to JEGI’s b2b client base. Mike’s professionalism and reputation as a hard driving executive are qualities that make him a very attractive addition to our firm’s leadership team.”

In 2001, Marchesano was named president and CEO of VNU Business Media USA (now Nielsen Business Media) – owner of 42 magazines, over 135 trade shows and conferences, and 185 digital products and services. He was given executive responsibility for Nielsen Entertainment in April 2005. In June 2006, Marchesano was promoted to the newly-created corporate-level position of chief transformation officer, following the acquisition of VNU for $11 billion by Valcon Acquisition, which is comprised of a consortium of private equity firms, including AlpInvest Partners, Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group, Hellman & Friedman, Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts, and Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Before joining VNU in 1999 as President of Bill Communications, he was president and CEO of BPA International, a primary world auditor of business publications and provider of audited data to marketing professionals.

Commenting on his new role at JEGI, Marchesano said, “It is a great thrill for me to join the media and information industries’ leading and most active investment bank. Over the years, I have watched JEGI’s reputation grow and its deal volume increase. I very much look forward to helping the firm expand its footprint in the vibrant business information services sector, which offers its customers a growing number of must-have products and services.”

Marchesano earned a BA from Marist College, and completed the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration Executive Program.
