Pitney Bowes Named to '40 Best Companies for Diversity' List
Wednesday, 20 June 2007

Pitney Bowes Inc., the mailstream technology firm, has announced its inclusion on Black Enterprise’s third annual “40 Best Companies for Diversity” list. In addition to being on the general list, Pitney Bowes was also cited as one of the top 15 companies in the workforce diversity category.

Black Enterprise evaluated diversity programs, consulted with diversity experts and corporate diversity officers, and conducted an extensive survey of the top-grossing 1,000 publicly-traded companies and the 50 leading global companies with significant US operations to select the top companies for diversity.

“We are pleased by the recognition of our efforts in diversity,” said Murray Martin, President and CEO, Pitney Bowes. “We have always considered diversity a key component to business success. Our long history of inclusiveness and collaboration, which dates back to the 1940s, is directly linked to the production of innovative solutions and services for the global market.”

To be included among the best companies for diversity, a company has to demonstrate significant representation of African-Americans and other ethnic minorities in four key areas: corporate procurement, corporate board participation, senior management representation, and total workforce.

“In developing this year’s list, we wanted to make sure we identified companies that viewed diversity as a business imperative,” said Sonia Alleyne, Black Enterprise Careers and Lifestyle Editor.

The list will be featured in the July 2007 cover story of the magazine.
