Epsilon, a leading provider of multichannel, data-driven marketing technologies and services, yesterday announced it has completed its acquisition of Abacus, a leading provider of data and database marketing services to leading multichannel catalogers, retailers, online merchants, and B-to-B marketers.

Abacus CEO Brian Rainey will remain Abacus’ top executive and will become president of Epsilon’s newest group, Retail Services, reporting to Epsilon President and CEO Michael Iaccarino.

According to Epsilon, the addition of Abacus’ innovative cooperative data offering and award winning data management and analytics solution continues Epsilon’s vision to buy or build best-of-breed marketing solutions that help leading brands leverage the power of customer insight to grow their relationships, response and marketing ROI. Epsilon announced the agreement to acquire Abacus on December 28, 2006.

With its more than 1,500 catalog, retail, and online clients, and data on more than 5 billion consumer transactions, Abacus will serve as the cornerstone of Epsilon’s retail offering.

Epsilon’s other groups include Strategic Database Services, Interactive Services, Agency and Direct Services and Data Services.

“The addition of Abacus to our expanding suite of solutions creates one of the most unique and comprehensive global marketing services offerings available in the marketplace today,” said Iaccarino. “As we continue to expand, the combination of offering unique and differentiated solutions with demonstrated vertical market expertise will be essential to our continued success. We are thrilled to welcome Abacus’ remarkable team of talented associates and its tremendous client base to Epsilon.”

Abacus is a winner of multiple NCDM awards for database design excellence and was recently recognized for its outstanding performance in the Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) Modeling Challenge.

“In Epsilon we have found a parent that shares our excitement for building best-of-breed, client-centric solutions that help leading brands acquire and retain profitable long-term relationships,” said Brian Rainey, who now will serve as president of Epsilon’s Retail Services Group. “There are few organizations that can match the depth, breath and uniqueness of the Epsilon offering in today’s marketplace, and our team is incredibly excited about the future as we begin collaborating toward a new era of growth and innovation as an industry leader.”
