JumpTap Study Reveals Growth in Mobile Search Metrics

Wireless operators providing carrier-branded mobile search capability to subscribers are seeing growing sales of mobile content and increased revenues, according to metrics now available from JumpTap, Inc., a provider of white-label mobile search technology.
JumpTap's April usage statistics reveal subscribers hungry for premium content, such as True-tone ringtones, driving revenue increases for carriers of eight percent on the month. Click-through rates on mobile searches of 36 percent and a four percent increase in unique users are fueling revenue growth, with average revenue per search increasing to $2.73.
As mobile users gain experience with the handset-based search capability provided by carriers, the variety of search queries continues to expand. Recent trends in mobile search metrics tracked by JumpTap include:
Top 10 queries are concentrated in ringtones and adult content, with searches for content from Eminen leading the list
Query categories showing the fastest growth include searches for information on TV programs, theme songs, weather and temperature, and sports
Search terms decreasing in popularity include Google, Coldplay and Disney
Top 100 searches by category were:
- Artists - 58 percent
- Adult - 12 percent
- Games - eight percent
- Miscellaneous genres - seven percent
- Sports and Television - tied at five percent
