Bookspan Appoints Sue R.E. Geramian Senior VP of Corporate Communications

Markus Wilhelm, chief executive officer of Bookspan, a partnership between Bertelsmann AG and Time Warner Inc., has announced the appointment of Sue R.E. Geramian to the newly created position of senior vice president of Corporate Communications. Geramian will be reporting directly to Wilhelm and will be based in Bookspan's New York City offices. She will also be a member of the company's Senior Management Group.
In making the announcement, Wilhelm said, "Sue is a highly skilled public relations executive with vast experience in corporate communications, branding, lifestyle, business, trade and consumer media relations. She has extremely effective managerial and team leadership skills with a proven ability to act on situational challenges decisively and to provide expert counsel to senior executives. I know that Sue will be an outstanding and vital member of the Bookspan management team. Her engaging manner allows her to continue to forge valuable relationships between Bookspan and the media world.”
Most recently, Geramian has been consulting on corporate communications issues for a variety of media companies. Prior to that, she was the vice president of Corporate Communications at Gruner + Jahr USA Publishing where she oversaw all corporate communications and publicity activities for the company. In addition, she created and administered G+J USA's Community Giving activities and was a member of the company’s executive committee.
Before that, Geramian was vice president and director in the Marketing practice of the largest reputation management firm in the world, Burson-Marsteller. She has extensive experience providing strategic counseling, specializing in business-to-business issues and consumer product publicity.
Geramian has directed projects for diverse, premier global clients. Prior to her tenure at Burson-Marsteller, she was director of Marketing and Public Relations for the strategic brand identity consultancy, Lister Butler. Previously, she managed public relations for the Crain Communications publication Advertising Age, overseeing all publicity efforts, conference planning, publisher support and special events.
She is an active member of Women in Communications, Women Executives In Public Relations, and the Business Marketing Association. Geramian was also a member of the public relations committee of the Magazine Publishers of America. Currently, she serves on the media advisory board of S.K.I.P. of New York, an organization dedicated to helping families of chronically ill children; and she is one of the founding committee members of P.O.P./Punch Out Parkinson's, a group committed to raising awareness of the disease among the media community.
