SPS Commerce, provider of hosted EDI software, announced that G.I. Joe`s, a leading retailer of sports and outdoor recreation, has expanded its use of SPS hosted services to include the Universal Catalog Service. This automation will replace G.I. Joe`s current manual process for entering item and UPC data into its systems with a fully automated operation.

In the next three months, SPS` hosted catalog service will enable G.I. Joe`s top 250 vendors to send their item information electronically to G.I. Joe`s, and have this data directly integrated into G.I. Joe`s operational and accounting systems. The new process will improve the accuracy and timeliness of the order fulfillment cycle.

"Since 2002, G.I. Joe`s has trusted SPS Commerce with its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) operations using SPS` File Integration service," stated Ron Menconi, Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at G.I. Joe`s. "When we decided to take the next step with our vendors and electronically synchronize our item information, we were pleased that SPS had a hosted service for this need as well. Their customer service and system reliability for our vendors and G.I. Joe`s is outstanding. Based on our history, the decision to use SPS` Universal Catalog Service was easy."

SPS Commerce`s Universal Catalog Service helps vendors electronically deliver UPC item information, pricing data, and more to their retail customers. Companies can setup and update their catalog using an on-line form via a web browser, a spreadsheet or an EDI 832 document. The service can integrate directly to the retailer, as in the case of G.I. Joes, and/or external data pools including Global Exchange Services (GXS), QRS Catalogue and UCCnet.

"We are pleased to expand our relationship with G.I. Joe`s and its suppliers," said Archie Black, Chief Executive Officer of SPS Commerce. "With the Universal Catalog Service, all organizations will benefit from improved information accuracy and timely updates to one-another`s systems. It`s a win-win opportunity for both parties to improve the order cycle. We appreciate G.I. Joe`s continued trust in outsourcing their supply chain needs to SPS Commerce."
