New Marketer for The Marketers

The Chartered Institute of Marketing has appointed Geoff Hurst as its new Marketing Director. Prior to joining The Institute Geoff worked at The Consumers Association where he was responsible for the decision to re-launch the organisation under the Which? brand, achieved rapid growth of its online offer, and a substantial increase in its subscription revenues.
In Geoff’s new role his tasks will include increasing the recognition of professional marketing standards, building membership and to develop both The Institute’s long-term marketing and membership strategies.
“I’m very excited at joining The Chartered Institute of Marketing.” commented Geoff, “I plan to build on the excellent work that has already been achieved by the marketing and membership teams. And, through The Institute, help strengthen the position of the professional marketer in all aspects of commerce and the public sector.”
Commenting on the appointment Christine Cryne, chief executive of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, said; “I am delighted to welcome Geoff to our management team. He is an expert in his field and brings with him some 25 years of practical experience. His contribution to our overall strategy and marketing projects will enable us to provide improving membership services and help set the agenda for the long-term development of the marketing profession.”
Prior to joining The Chartered Institute of Marketing Geoff was with The Consumers Association where he led the marketing and membership teams and completed the re-launch of Which? magazine. Previously Geoff has had senior marketing roles with Yell, The Times digital, BT and Boots. In 2000 he was a part of the News International’s dotcom venture, “News Network”, with the brief to relaunch their leading newspaper brands online – including the Times and Sunday Times.
