UK Internet Shoppers to Increase Spend by 88%

UK Internet shoppers will each spend an average of £486 online this Christmas, an increase of 88% on 2004, according to research by direct marketing company Ipoints. 43% of those questioned said they would be tempted to increase the proportion of Christmas shopping conducted online by the hunt for bargains, while under a fifth cited convenience as the primary factor. 17% said online was their preferred method of Christmas shopping in order to avoid high street queues.
